Conversion of count

There are 3 types of count conversion system. Such as:-
1. Direct to direct
2. Indirect to indirect
3. Indirect to direct or direct to indirect.
Conversion from one system two another is achieved by converting factors and constant. Where a direct to direct or indirect to indirect system conversion is done, a multiplying factor is used. This multiplying factor is multiplied by the known count and thus the required count can be obtained.

Direct to direct system conversion:

Let,
Nr= Count in required system
Nk= Count in known system
Wk= Weight unit in known system
Wr= Weight unit inrequired system
Lk= Length unit in known systembr
Lr=Length unit in required system
Then,

Nr= Nk ×
(Wk/Wr)
(Lk/Lr)

Or, Nr= Nk ×
(Wk×Lr)
(Wr×Lk)
(multiplying factor)

Example,
Tex = denier × 0.111 (0.111 is the multiplying factor)
Or, Denier = 9 × Tex (9 is the multiplying factor)

Indirect to indirect system conversion:

Let,
Nr= Count in required system
Nk= Count in known system
Wk= Weight unit in known system
Wr= Weight unit inrequired system
Lk= Length unit in known systembr
Lr=Length unit in required system
Then,

Nr= Nk ×
(Lk/Lr)
(Wk/Wr)

Or, Nr= Nk ×
(Wr×Lk)
(Wk×Lr)
(multiplying factor)

Example:
Cotton count × 1.5 = Worsted count
Or, Worsted count = Cotton count × 1.5
Here, 1.5 is the multiplying factor.

Direct to indirect system conversion:

Let,
Nr= Count in required system
Nk= Count in known system
Wk= Weight unit in known system
Wr= Weight unit inrequired system
Lk= Length unit in known systembr
Lr=Length unit in required system
Then,

Nr=
1
Nk
×
(Lk/Lr)
(Wk/Wr)

Or, Nr=
1
Nk
×
(Wr×Lk)
(Wk×Lr)
(multiplying factor)

Example:
Denier = (7972/Worsted Count)
Or, Denier = (A constant of conversion/Worsted Count)
Here, 7972 is the multiplying factor.

Indirect to direct system conversion:

Let,
Nr= Count in required system
Nk= Count in known system
Wk= Weight unit in known system
Wr= Weight unit inrequired system
Lk= Length unit in known systembr
Lr=Length unit in required system
Then,

Nr=
1
Nk
×
(Wk/Wr)
(Lk/Lr)

Or, Nr=
1
Nk
×
(Wk×Lr
(Wr×Lk))
(multiplying factor)

Example:
Cotton Count = (A Constant/Denier)
Or, Cotton Count = (5315/Denier)
Here, 5315 is the multiplying factor.

By using below table, count can be converted easily.
